Graduation requirements

When you start your bachelor's degree in MNW or master's degree in BMTP, you obviously want to graduate. For this, there are a number of things you must fulfil. 

If a bachelor's student wants to graduate on August 31, the following conditions apply:

Date Description
May 15h Start diploma application, via vunet form
June 1st Is the last opportunity for the student to submit the final draft of the bachelor's thesis to your supervisor
June 15th Deadline for degree application
June 15th Deadline for your supervisor to let you know if your thesis receives a passing or failing grade. If the thesis is graded with a failing grade, the student has until June 30th to make corrections based on the feedback
June 30th This is the deadline for submitting the thesis to your supervisor. If the thesis is submitted later, your supervisor is not obligated to review it
July 15th This is the deadline for the instructor to submit the grade for the thesis to the education secretary
July 20th Students will receive an email from the education secretary about the status

If a master's student wishes to graduate by August 31st, the following conditions apply:

Date Description
July 1st This is usually the last opportunity for the student to submit the final draft of the master thesis to their supervisor. If the student submits the thesis later than agreed upon, their supervisor is not obligated to check it. 
August 15th This is the deadline for your supervisors / first examination to submit the grade of the thesis to the education secretary. This is important to know if your supervisor makes other arrangements with the student regarding the submission of the thesis. 

Once the degree has been applied for at the Central Student Administration (CSA), master's students will receive notification from the faculty's education secretary no later than September 15th and bachelor's students no later than August 15th. This email will also contain further information on, for example, applying for a graduation certificate and the degree ceremony. The date of the graduation ceremony will be announced via VUnet.

The things to do at DUO
Regarding your loan/scholarship/student-OV, some rules also apply if you are no longer going to study after this:
- Deregister from Studielink
- Log in to My DUO to pass on the deregistration date of your studies
- Go to 'My studies and diplomas' and choose 'School/study'
- Click on 'Change' behind your current study. The rest is self-explanatory
- Stop your student travel product. Do this no later than the 5th working day of your 1st month without study funding. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fine. 

If you do continue to study full-time at HBO or university, then:
- Log in to My DUO to change your education details
- Go to 'My studies and diplomas' and choose 'School/study'
- Click on 'Change' behind your current program. The rest is self-explanatory.
